1. Declutter and Depersonalize

Construction creates dust and requires physical space for tools, materials, and movement. Before the first skip arrives, clear the work zones entirely.

  • Clear the Walls: Vibrations from drilling or structural work can cause items to fall in adjacent rooms. Remove all artwork, mirrors, and shelving, even in rooms that are not being directly renovated.

  • Pack Away Valuables: Small items, heirlooms, and electronics should be packed into sturdy boxes and moved to a “clean zone” or off-site storage.
